In 2017 election of Jantedhunga Rural Municipality (Khotang district), candidate Shankhar Bahadur Rai of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 2,153 (43.61%) votes out of total votes of 4,937 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Khem Bahadur Khadka of Nepali Congress Party (NC) who secured 1,562 (22.03%) of votes. The rest of 3 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 1,222 (12.38) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Bimala Rai of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 2,086 (42.68%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Anita Rai of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 1,466 (21.02%) of votes and came in second position. Other 3 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 1,335 (13.66) of votes.

As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 107 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 64 (59.81%) males and 43 (40.19%) females. Moreover, there were total 22 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 6 wards. Same as, total 38 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 19 females and 18 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
