There were 40,708 votes casted during 2008 Constituent Assembly elections in Ilam District, Constituency No. 2. The candidte of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) - Subash Nembang secured 17,748 (43.60%) votes and secured victory in the election. The runner-up candidate was Keshav Thapa of Nepali Congress Party who secured 14,044 (34.50%) votes and came in second position. The difference in votes of Subash Nembang and Keshav Thapa was 3,704. All other candidates secured 8,916 (21.90%) votes.
