Gujara Municipality (Rautahat) Election Results 2017
In 2017 election of Gujara Municipality (Rautahat district), candidate Santalal Prasad Chaudhary of Rastriya Janata Party Nepal (RasJPN) secured 5,078 (32.91%) votes out of total votes of 15,430 and was elected as a Mayor. The first runner-up candidate was Shekh Daud of Nepali Congress Party (NC) who secured 4,173 (20.35%) of votes. The rest of 9 candidates for the position of Mayor secured combined 6,179 (20.02) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Deputy Mayor, candidate Raushan Khatun Shekh of Rastriya Janata Party Nepal (RasJPN) secured 3,745 (25.68%) and was elected as a Deputy Mayor, while Ratna Lama of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 3,358 (18.32%) of votes and came in second position. Other 8 candidates who contested for Deputy Mayor secured combined 7,479 (25.64) of votes.

As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 234 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 143 (61.11%) males and 91 (38.89%) females. Moreover, there were total 55 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 9 wards. Same as, total 81 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 40 females and 37 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
