In 2017 election of Golanjor Rural Municipality (Sindhuli district), candidate Pushpa Bahadur Karki of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 3,376 (41.18%) votes out of total votes of 8,198 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Tika Bahadur Devkota of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) who secured 2,584 (22.33%) of votes. The rest of 3 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 2,238 (13.65) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Ganga Devi Shrestha of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 3,287 (40.05%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Dhan Maya Pulami of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 2,645 (23.01%) of votes and came in second position. Other 3 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 2,276 (13.86) of votes.

As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 125 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 77 (61.60%) males and 48 (38.40%) females. Moreover, there were total 28 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 7 wards. Same as, total 44 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 21 females and 22 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
