Godawari is a Municipality located in Lalitpur District of Nepal. It has total 14 wards and 96 square kilometers of geographical area. According to 2011 census, it had total population of 78,301.

Godawari is a Municipality, which is located in Lalitpur district, Province No. 3 of Nepal. Godawari has total 14 wards, which are scattered across 96 square kilometers of geographical area. According to 2011 Census conducted by Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Godawari Municipality had total population of 78,301.

Wardwise Population and Households

As per 2011 population census, Godawari Municipality had total 78,301 population with 38,282 males and 40,019 females. Out of total wards, ward number 11 had the largest population 10,171, while ward number 8 had least number of population with 10,171.

With respect to number of households, Godawari Municipality had total 17,762 households. The ward number 12 had most households with total 2,352, while ward number 8 had least number of households with total 555 number of households.Wardwise Population Chart of Godawari Municipality

As illustrated in the chart, the ratio of male to female population was 0.96, which indicates that Godawari Municipality had 4 percent lower males as compared to the females. In terms of age, the largest population in Godawari Municipality were between 15 and 19 years of age with total 8,900. However, gender wise largest population age group differs from the total population, such as largest male population falls between 15 and 19 with total 4,385 while female population falls between 20 and 24 with total 4,684 population. The least populated age group was between 70 and 74 with total 1,220 population, which consistes of 583 males and 637 females. Top 5 most populated age groups were between 15 and 19 (8,900), between 20 and 24 (8,639), between 10 and 14 (7,907), between 25 and 29 (7,626), between 30 and 34 (6,522) with total population of 39,594. In contrast, bottom 5 least populated age groups were between 70 and 74 (1,220), between 65 and 69 (1,679), above 75 (1,703), between 60 and 64 (2,085), and between 55 and 59 (2,406) with total population of 9,093. Gender wise, top 5 most age groups male population were between 15 and 19 (4,385), between 10 and 14 (4,000), between 20 and 24 (3,955), between 25 and 29 (3,534), and between 5 and 9 (3,222), with total population of 19,096. In contrast, bottom 5 least age group male population were between 70 and 74 (583), above 75 (773), between 65 and 69 (776),between 60 and 64 (986), and between 55 and 59 (1,242), with total population of 4,360. With regards to female population, top 5 age groups females were between 20 and 24 (4,684), between 15 and 19 (4,515), between 25 and 29 (4,092), between 10 and 14 (3,907), and between 30 and 34 (3,408), with total population of 20,606. In contrast, bottom 5 least age group male population were between 70 and 74 (637), between 65 and 69 (903), above 75 (930),between 60 and 64 (1,099), and between 55 and 59 (1,164), with total population of 4,733.

The population with age-group 55 to 59 had male to female ratio of 1.07, which states that this age group had maximum males as compared to females. Similarly, age-group above 75 had most female population as compared to male population with male to female ratio of 0.83. The age-groups 55 to 59, below 4, 5 to 9, 50 to 54, 40 to 44, 10 to 14 had majority of male population while age-groups 45 to 49, 15 to 19, 35 to 39, 70 to 74, 30 to 34, 60 to 64, 25 to 29, 65 to 69, 20 to 24, above 75 had majority of female population as per male-female ratios. Moreover, age-groups had eqivalent or almost equal numbers of male and female population with male-female ratios of 1.

There were 69.25 % (54,220 ) of independent population, the working age people between ages of 15 and 64 years. The dependent children, ages below 15 years, were 24.88 % with total number of 19,479. The dependent elderly population, aged 65 and above were 5.88 % with total number of 4,602. As such, total dependent population including children and elderly people were 30.75 with total number of 24,081

There were 24,170 women of child-bearing age-group of 15 to 49 years. Same as, the todlers or children of 4 years or below were 5,310. The ratio of woman of child-bearing age and the number of todlers state that, approximately 220 children were born per 1,000 women. This number is also roughly used as fertility levels when direct measures of births are not available.

Grade 1-12 Students & Schools

According to Nepal Government records as of 2017, there were total 20,958 in Godawari Municipality with 10,408 (49.66%) of males and 10,550 (50.34%) females. There were total 85 schools. In average, 247 students were studying in each school.

According to 2011 census conducted by Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Godawari Municipality was inhabitted by mostly the people of Newar caste with total population of 22,387. There were as little as Bantaba caste with population of as little as 11 in total. Top five castes of people in Godawari Municipality are Newar (22,387), Chhetri (21,004), Tamang (12,718), Brahmin - Hill (8,433) and Pahari (3,391) with total population of 67,933, which forms 86.76 percent out of total population of 78,301 in Godawari Municipality.

Population by Disability

Out of total population of 78,301, there were total 945 (1.21%) disabled persons in Godawari Municipality with 486 (51.43%) males and 459 (48.57%) females. The physically disabled persons were 263, while mentally disabled people were 104 and intellectually disabled were 59.

Similarly, there were 142 people who were blind and 166 people were deaf, while 12 people were both blind and deaf. Moreover, 132 persons had reported of having speech problems. Total 67 people had multiple disabilities.

Household Foundation

Out of total 17762 households in Godawari Municipality, there were 11,136 houses that were founded on mud bonded while 4,470 houses were cement bonded. Same as, 1,641 households were reported of being founded on RCC piller, 61houses were founded on wood.

There were several types of house roofs reported. Total 367 houses were reported of having thatch roofs while 6,511 houses had galvanized roofs. Similarly, 2,421 houses had roof of tile, 7,999 houses had RCC roofs, 17 houses had roof of woods while 1 houses were reported having roof of mud. As per 2011 CBS census, some of the houses had other types of roofs while some didn't report about the roof structure.

With respect to the toilets, 1,560 out of 17,762 houses didn't report of having a private toilet for their households. Nevertheless, 12,016 houses were reported of having flush toilet while 4,002 houses reported having ordinary toilets.

Utilities

In Godawari Municipality, there were total 16,065 houses, which were equiped with piped tap water resources while 11 houses were reported of having tubewell water facilities. Same as, 445 houses had covered well while 204 houses didn't have any cover on their tubewell. With reference to source of fuel, 8,051 households reported their source of fuel as firewood while 468 households had kerosene as their fuel source. The LP gas was used by 8,864 households as a source of fuel. Moreover, other sources of fuel were cow dung (88), bio-gas (35), fuel electricity (13), etc.

Same as, total 17,116 households had reported of having electricity as the source of their household's lighting. The households still using kerosene as source of light were 363, while 16 households used solar energy as source of lights. Total 0 households also reported of using bio-gas as a source of light. The ratio of use of electricity as compared to other source of light was 0.96.

Facilities

out of 17,762 households in Godawari Municipality, 771 houses reported of having no any facility in their household while 16,610 households reported of using at least one facility. According to 2018 Economic Census, there are total 3,279 establishments in Godawari Municipality that are involved in various economic activities. In those establishments, total 15,555 persons are engaged for the economic activities, as a self-employed or an employee, with total male engagement of 8,602 and female engagement of 6,953 persons.In every business, there were an average of 4.74 people engaged with average males are 2.62 and females are 2.12.
