In 2017 election of Gandaki Rural Municipality (Gorkha district), candidate Hom Bahadur Rana Magar of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 4,131 (42.34%) votes out of total votes of 9,756 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Dipak Timilsina (sakar) of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) who secured 3,857 (27.77%) of votes. The rest of 3 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 1,768 (9.06) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Lalita Adhikari of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 4,100 (42.16%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Purna Thapa of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) secured 3,928 (28.41%) of votes and came in second position. Other 2 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 1,696 (8.72) of votes.

As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 145 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 83 (57.24%) males and 62 (42.76%) females. Moreover, there were total 30 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 8 wards. Same as, total 53 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 29 females and 24 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
