Galkot Municipality (Baglung) Election Results 2017
In 2017 election of Galkot Municipality (Baglung district), candidate Bharat Sharma of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 5,815 (47.52%) votes out of total votes of 12,236 and was elected as a Mayor. The first runner-up candidate was Tek Bahadur K.c of Rastriya JanaMorcha (RasJanM) who secured 3,562 (19.73%) of votes. The rest of 2 candidates for the position of Mayor secured combined 2,859 (11.68) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Deputy Mayor, candidate Renuka Kaucha of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 6,099 (49.52%) and was elected as a Deputy Mayor, while Ratna Devi Bhandari of Rastriya JanaMorcha (RasJanM) secured 3,357 (18.23%) of votes and came in second position. Other 1 candidates who contested for Deputy Mayor secured combined 2,860 (11.61) of votes.

As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 160 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 95 (59.38%) males and 65 (40.63%) females. Moreover, there were total 31 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 11 wards. Same as, total 60 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 31 females and 31 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
