Dhanapalthan is a Rural Municipality, which is located in Morang district, Province No. 1 of Nepal. Dhanapalthan has total 7 wards, which are scattered across 70 square kilometers of geographical area. According to 2011 Census conducted by Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Dhanapalthan Rural Municipality had total population of 39,394.

As of 2011, 1,475 population in Dhanapalthan Rural Municipality were absent from their households, which equals to 3.74 percent of the total population. Absence of males was 1,412, which equals to 7.26 percent of total 19,459 males. Same as, 63 females were absent, which equals to 0.32 percent of 19,935 females. At least one member of 1,236 (15.53 percent) households were absent.

In terms of age, the largest population in Dhanapalthan Rural Municipality were between 10 and 14 years of age with total 5,258. In contrast, bottom 5 least age group male population were above 75 (159), between 70 and 74 (228), between 65 and 69 (407),between 60 and 64 (537), and between 55 and 59 (694), with total population of 2,025. With regards to female population, top 5 age groups females were between 10 and 14 (2,593), between 5 and 9 (2,568), between 15 and 19 (2,002), below 4 (1,991), and between 20 and 24 (1,635), with total population of 10,789. In contrast, bottom 5 least age group male population were above 75 (142), between 70 and 74 (216), between 65 and 69 (369),between 60 and 64 (538), and between 55 and 59 (685), with total population of 1,950.

The population with age-group 45 to 49 had male to female ratio of 1.13, which states that this age group had maximum males as compared to females. Similarly, age-group 30 to 34 had most female population as compared to male population with male to female ratio of 0.79. The age-groups 45 to 49, above 75, 65 to 69, 15 to 19, below 4, 70 to 74, 10 to 14, 50 to 54, 55 to 59 had majority of male population while age-groups 5 to 9, 35 to 39, 25 to 29, 40 to 44, 20 to 24, 30 to 34 had majority of female population as per male-female ratios. Moreover, age-groups 60 to 64 had eqivalent or almost equal numbers of male and female population with male-female ratios of 1.

The dependent elderly population, aged 65 and above were 3.86 % with total number of 1,521. As such, total dependent population including children and elderly people were 40.40 with total number of 15,916

There were 10,096 women of child-bearing age-group of 15 to 49 years. Same as, the todlers or children of 4 years or below were 4,099. The ratio of woman of child-bearing age and the number of todlers state that, approximately 406 children were born per 1,000 women. This number is also roughly used as fertility levels when direct measures of births are not available.

According to Nepal Government records as of 2017, there were total 6,050 in Dhanapalthan Rural Municipality with 2,968 (49.06%) of males and 3,082 (50.94%) females. There were total 31 schools. In average, 195 students were studying in each school.

Top five castes of people in Dhanapalthan Rural Municipality are Gangai (10,701), Muslim (3,229), Bantar/Sardar (3,091), Kewat (2,874) and Rajbansi (2,755) with total population of 22,650, which forms 57.50 percent out of total population of 39,394 in Dhanapalthan Rural Municipality.

Out of total population of 39,394, there were total 472 (1.20%) disabled persons in Dhanapalthan Rural Municipality with 301 (63.77%) males and 171 (36.23%) females. The physically disabled persons were 214, while mentally disabled people were 27 and intellectually disabled were 14.

Out of total 7957 households in Dhanapalthan Rural Municipality, there were 425 houses that were founded on mud bonded while 723 houses were cement bonded. Same as, 222 households were reported of being founded on RCC piller, 4,667houses were founded on wood.

With respect to wall of the houses, 253 houses were mud bonded, 875 houses were cement bonded, 40 houses were wood planks bonded, 6,719 houses were bamboo bonded and 4 houses had unbaked bricks on their outer walls.Rest of the houses were reported of having other types of outer wall, while some of them reported nothing of having the outer wall bonding.

There were several types of house roofs reported. Total 1,844 houses were reported of having thatch roofs while 5,871 houses had galvanized roofs. Similarly, 55 houses had roof of tile, 129 houses had RCC roofs, 12 houses had roof of woods while 0 houses were reported having roof of mud. As per 2011 CBS census, some of the houses had other types of roofs while some didn't report about the roof structure.

With respect to the toilets, 5,642 out of 7,957 houses didn't report of having a private toilet for their households. Nevertheless, 1,591 houses were reported of having flush toilet while 700 houses reported having ordinary toilets.

In Dhanapalthan Rural Municipality, there were total 34 houses, which were equiped with piped tap water resources while 7,794 houses were reported of having tubewell water facilities. Same as, 6 houses had covered well while 48 houses didn't have any cover on their tubewell. Other resources of water facilities were spout water (2) and river stream (1), which were reported of the household's source of water.

With reference to source of fuel, 845 households reported their source of fuel as firewood while 140 households had kerosene as their fuel source. The LP gas was used by 146 households as a source of fuel. Moreover, other sources of fuel were cow dung (6,524), bio-gas (38), fuel electricity (1), etc.

Same as, total 4,052 households had reported of having electricity as the source of their household's lighting. The households still using kerosene as source of light were 3,787, while 78 households used solar energy as source of lights. Total 0 households also reported of using bio-gas as a source of light. The ratio of use of electricity as compared to other source of light was 0.51.

out of 7,957 households in Dhanapalthan Rural Municipality, 961 houses reported of having no any facility in their household while 6,912 households reported of using at least one facility. Households using at least one facility, such as radio, television, internet, etc. have been illustrated in the table below.Bicycle was used by the maximum households with total users of 6,345, while MobilePhone was the next mostly used facilities with total household users of 3,636.

According to 2018 Economic Census, there are total 1,001 establishments in Dhanapalthan Rural Municipality that are involved in various economic activities. In those establishments, total 5,779 persons are engaged for the economic activities, as a self-employed or an employee, with total male engagement of 3,525 and female engagement of 2,254 persons.In every business, there were an average of 5.77 people engaged with average males are 3.52 and females are 2.25. The ratio of male to female engagement in the establishments are 1.56, which means as many as 1.56 males are enagement in the economic activities per female.
