Chichila is a Rural Municipality, which is located in Sankhuwasabha district, Province No. 1 of Nepal. Chichila has total 5 wards, which are scattered across 89 square kilometers of geographical area. According to 2011 Census conducted by Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Chichila Rural Municipality had total population of 7,065.

As of 2011, 548 population in Chichila Rural Municipality were absent from their households, which equals to 7.76 percent of the total population. Absence of males was 467, which equals to 13.70 percent of total 3,410 males. Same as, 81 females were absent, which equals to 2.22 percent of 3,655 females. At least one member of 392 (25.82 percent) households were absent.

In terms of age, the largest population in Chichila Rural Municipality were between 10 and 14 years of age with total 902. However, gender wise largest population age group differs from the total population, such as largest male population falls between 10 and 14 with total 444 while female population falls between 15 and 19 with total 465 population. The least populated age group was between 65 and 69 with total 127 population, which consistes of 66 males and 61 females. Gender wise, top 5 most age groups male population were between 10 and 14 (444), between 15 and 19 (401), between 5 and 9 (399), below 4 (319), and between 20 and 24 (283), with total population of 1,846. In contrast, bottom 5 least age group male population were between 65 and 69 (66), above 75 (77), between 70 and 74 (85),between 55 and 59 (130), and between 50 and 54 (142), with total population of 500. With regards to female population, top 5 age groups females were between 15 and 19 (465), between 10 and 14 (458), between 5 and 9 (410), between 20 and 24 (326), and below 4 (326), with total population of 1,985. In contrast, bottom 5 least age group male population were between 65 and 69 (61), between 70 and 74 (62), above 75 (66),between 55 and 59 (138), and between 60 and 64 (139), with total population of 466.

The population with age-group 70 to 74 had male to female ratio of 1.37, which states that this age group had maximum males as compared to females. Similarly, age-group 25 to 29 had most female population as compared to male population with male to female ratio of 0.76. The age-groups 70 to 74, above 75, 65 to 69, 45 to 49, 60 to 64 had majority of male population while age-groups below 4, 5 to 9, 10 to 14, 35 to 39, 40 to 44, 55 to 59, 50 to 54, 20 to 24, 15 to 19, 30 to 34, 25 to 29 had majority of female population as per male-female ratios. Moreover, age-groups had eqivalent or almost equal numbers of male and female population with male-female ratios of 1.

There were 60.75 % (4,292 ) of independent population, the working age people between ages of 15 and 64 years. The dependent children, ages below 15 years, were 33.35 % with total number of 2,356. The dependent elderly population, aged 65 and above were 5.90 % with total number of 417. As such, total dependent population including children and elderly people were 39.25 with total number of 2,773

There were 1,837 women of child-bearing age-group of 15 to 49 years. Same as, the todlers or children of 4 years or below were 645. The ratio of woman of child-bearing age and the number of todlers state that, approximately 351 children were born per 1,000 women. This number is also roughly used as fertility levels when direct measures of births are not available.

According to Nepal Government records as of 2017, there were total 2,154 in Chichila Rural Municipality with 1,089 (50.56%) of males and 1,065 (49.44%) females. There were total 21 schools. In average, 103 students were studying in each school.

According to 2011 census conducted by Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Chichila Rural Municipality was inhabitted by mostly the people of Rai caste with total population of 1,774. There were as little as Bhote caste with population of as little as 13 in total. People of several other castes who live in Chichila are Gurung, Yamphu, Sherpa, Loharung, Thulung, Kami, Kulung, Chhetri, Damai/Dholi, Khaling, Mewahang Bala, Tamang, Brahmin - Hill, Bahing, Yakkha, Limbu, Magar, Nachhiring, Bhote, etc. Only the population of castes with above 1,000 population are illustrated in the table.

Top five castes of people in Chichila Rural Municipality are Rai (1,774), Gurung (1,768), Yamphu (742), Sherpa (699) and Loharung (557) with total population of 5,540, which forms 78.41 percent out of total population of 7,065 in Chichila Rural Municipality.

Out of total population of 7,065, there were total 300 (4.25%) disabled persons in Chichila Rural Municipality with 167 (55.67%) males and 133 (44.33%) females. The physically disabled persons were 103, while mentally disabled people were 12 and intellectually disabled were 11.

Similarly, there were 51 people who were blind and 61 people were deaf, while 3 people were both blind and deaf. Moreover, 28 persons had reported of having speech problems. Total 31 people had multiple disabilities.

Out of total 1518 households in Chichila Rural Municipality, there were 1,161 houses that were founded on mud bonded while 2 houses were cement bonded. Same as, 1 households were reported of being founded on RCC piller, 343houses were founded on wood.

With respect to wall of the houses, 1,082 houses were mud bonded, 3 houses were cement bonded, 83 houses were wood planks bonded, 340 houses were bamboo bonded and 1 houses had unbaked bricks on their outer walls.Rest of the houses were reported of having other types of outer wall, while some of them reported nothing of having the outer wall bonding.

There were several types of house roofs reported. Total 1,219 houses were reported of having thatch roofs while 283 houses had galvanized roofs. Similarly, 3 houses had roof of tile, 0 houses had RCC roofs, 8 houses had roof of woods while 0 houses were reported having roof of mud. As per 2011 CBS census, some of the houses had other types of roofs while some didn't report about the roof structure.

With respect to the toilets, 258 out of 1,518 houses didn't report of having a private toilet for their households. Nevertheless, 169 houses were reported of having flush toilet while 1,089 houses reported having ordinary toilets.

In Chichila Rural Municipality, there were total 1,238 houses, which were equiped with piped tap water resources while 0 houses were reported of having tubewell water facilities. Same as, 28 houses had covered well while 71 houses didn't have any cover on their tubewell. Other resources of water facilities were spout water (149) and river stream (29), which were reported of the household's source of water.

With reference to source of fuel, 1,515 households reported their source of fuel as firewood while 1 households had kerosene as their fuel source. The LP gas was used by 0 households as a source of fuel. Moreover, other sources of fuel were cow dung (0), bio-gas (0), fuel electricity (0), etc.

Same as, total 14 households had reported of having electricity as the source of their household's lighting. The households still using kerosene as source of light were 398, while 877 households used solar energy as source of lights. Total 0 households also reported of using bio-gas as a source of light. The ratio of use of electricity as compared to other source of light was 0.01.

out of 1,518 households in Chichila Rural Municipality, 303 houses reported of having no any facility in their household while 1,187 households reported of using at least one facility. Households using at least one facility, such as radio, television, internet, etc. have been illustrated in the table below.Radio was used by the maximum households with total users of 1,027, while MobilePhone was the next mostly used facilities with total household users of 813.

According to 2018 Economic Census, there are total 199 establishments in Chichila Rural Municipality that are involved in various economic activities. In those establishments, total 479 persons are engaged for the economic activities, as a self-employed or an employee, with total male engagement of 253 and female engagement of 226 persons.In every business, there were an average of 2.41 people engaged with average males are 1.27 and females are 1.14. The ratio of male to female engagement in the establishments are 1.12, which means as many as 1.12 males are enagement in the economic activities per female.
