Chhathar Rural Municipality (Terhathum) Election Results 2017
In 2017 election of Chhathar Rural Municipality (Terhathum district), candidate Santa Bir Limbu of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 3,426 (49.64%) votes out of total votes of 6,902 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Tek Raj Limbu of Nepali Congress Party (NC) who secured 2,552 (24.71%) of votes. The rest of 6 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 924 (6.69) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Tara Kharel of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 3,368 (49.25%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Hima Maya Paudel Bhattarai of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 2,489 (24.39%) of votes and came in second position. Other 4 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 981 (7.17) of votes.
As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 126 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 79 (62.70%) males and 47 (37.30%) females. Moreover, there were total 23 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 6 wards. Same as, total 48 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 21 females and 20 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
