In 2017 election of Chandrakot Rural Municipality (Gulmi district), candidate Drona Bahadur Khatri of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 3,340 (38.25%) votes out of total votes of 8,731 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Mim Lal Shrestha of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) who secured 3,062 (25.37%) of votes. The rest of 4 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 2,329 (13.34) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Radhika Aryal of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 3,232 (37.74%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Bhagwati Aryal of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 3,182 (26.98%) of votes and came in second position. Other 3 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 2,150 (12.55) of votes.

As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 140 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 83 (59.29%) males and 57 (40.71%) females. Moreover, there were total 26 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 8 wards. Same as, total 53 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 25 females and 25 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
