In 2017 election of Budhiganga Rural Municipality (Morang district), candidate Bal Chandra Majhi of Madheshi Janaadhikar Form Nepal (Loktantrik) (MadheJFP (L)) secured 5,327 (31.57%) votes out of total votes of 16,875 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Jit Narayan Thapa Magar of Nepali Congress Party (NC) who secured 4,537 (20.44%) of votes. The rest of 7 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 7,011 (20.77) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Amrita Kumari Gachhadar of Madheshi Janaadhikar Form Nepal (Loktantrik) (MadheJFP (L)) secured 4,972 (29.74%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Rita Neupane of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 4,559 (21.02%) of votes and came in second position. Other 6 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 7,187 (21.49) of votes.

As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 208 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 121 (58.17%) males and 87 (41.83%) females. Moreover, there were total 45 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 7 wards. Same as, total 75 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 36 females and 35 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
