In 2017 election of Bogatan Phudisal Rural Municipality (Doti district), candidate Kamal Bahadur Gadsila of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) secured 2,089 (36.97%) votes out of total votes of 5,651 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Tek Bahadur Bam of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) who secured 1,808 (23.36%) of votes. The rest of 2 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 1,754 (15.52) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Bhagwati Devi Bam of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 1,894 (34.49%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Chandra Devi Bhul of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) secured 1,868 (25.29%) of votes and came in second position. Other 1 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 1,729 (15.74) of votes.

As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 118 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 71 (60.17%) males and 47 (39.83%) females. Moreover, there were total 24 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 7 wards. Same as, total 44 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 22 females and 21 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
