Biruwa is a Rural Municipality, which is located in Syangja district, Gandaki Province of Nepal. Biruwa has total 8 wards, which are scattered across 96 square kilometers of geographical area. According to 2011 Census conducted by Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Biruwa Rural Municipality had total population of 18,413.

Wardwise Population and Households

As per 2011 population census, Biruwa Rural Municipality had total 18,413 population with 8,045 males and 10,368 females. Out of total wards, ward number 4 had the largest population 3,515, while ward number 2 had least number of population with 3,515.

In terms of age, the largest population in Biruwa Rural Municipality were between 10 and 14 years of age with total 2,383. Gender wise, there were 1,130 males and 1,253 females of the same age group. Gender wise, top 5 most age groups male population were between 10 and 14 (1,130), between 15 and 19 (1,091), between 5 and 9 (818), below 4 (718), and between 20 and 24 (529), with total population of 4,286. In contrast, bottom 5 least age group male population were between 70 and 74 (247), between 30 and 34 (289), between 35 and 39 (294),between 65 and 69 (308), and between 25 and 29 (333), with total population of 1,471. With regards to female population, top 5 age groups females were between 10 and 14 (1,253), between 15 and 19 (1,210), between 20 and 24 (877), between 5 and 9 (864), and between 25 and 29 (718), with total population of 4,922. In contrast, bottom 5 least age group male population were between 70 and 74 (263), between 65 and 69 (314), above 75 (355),between 60 and 64 (484), and between 55 and 59 (496), with total population of 1,912.

The population with age-group below 4 had male to female ratio of 1.05, which states that this age group had maximum males as compared to females. Similarly, age-group 25 to 29 had most female population as compared to male population with male to female ratio of 0.46. The age-groups below 4 had majority of male population while age-groups 65 to 69, 5 to 9, above 75, 70 to 74, 10 to 14, 15 to 19, 55 to 59, 50 to 54, 60 to 64, 45 to 49, 20 to 24, 40 to 44, 30 to 34, 35 to 39, 25 to 29 had majority of female population as per male-female ratios. Moreover, age-groups had eqivalent or almost equal numbers of male and female population with male-female ratios of 1.

There were 60.39 % (11,119 ) of independent population, the working age people between ages of 15 and 64 years. The dependent children, ages below 15 years, were 29.70 % with total number of 5,468. The dependent elderly population, aged 65 and above were 9.92 % with total number of 1,826. As such, total dependent population including children and elderly people were 39.61 with total number of 7,294

There were 5,116 women of child-bearing age-group of 15 to 49 years. Same as, the todlers or children of 4 years or below were 1,403. The ratio of woman of child-bearing age and the number of todlers state that, approximately 274 children were born per 1,000 women. This number is also roughly used as fertility levels when direct measures of births are not available.

Grade 1-12 Students & Schools

According to Nepal Government records as of 2017, there were total 3,945 in Biruwa Rural Municipality with 1,900 (48.16%) of males and 2,045 (51.84%) females. There were total 45 schools. In average, 88 students were studying in each school.

According to 2011 census conducted by Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Biruwa Rural Municipality was inhabitted by mostly the people of Magar caste with total population of 7,413. There were as little as Muslim caste with population of as little as 17 in total. People of several other castes who live in Biruwa are Gurung, Brahmin - Hill, Kami, Chhetri, Gharti/Bhujel, Sarki, Damai/Dholi, Thakuri, Newar, Sanyasi/Dashnami, Terai Others, Muslim, Rai, etc. Only the population of castes with above 1,000 population are illustrated in the table.

Top five castes of people in Biruwa Rural Municipality are Magar (7,413), Gurung (3,166), Brahmin - Hill (3,100), Kami (1,527) and Chhetri (1,321) with total population of 16,527, which forms 89.76 percent out of total population of 18,413 in Biruwa Rural Municipality.

Household Foundation

Out of total 4305 households in Biruwa Rural Municipality, there were 4,167 houses that were founded on mud bonded while 80 houses were cement bonded. Same as, 12 households were reported of being founded on RCC piller, 28houses were founded on wood.

There were several types of house roofs reported. Total 1,633 houses were reported of having thatch roofs while 2,540 houses had galvanized roofs. Similarly, 26 houses had roof of tile, 82 houses had RCC roofs, 1 houses had roof of woods while 0 houses were reported having roof of mud. As per 2011 CBS census, some of the houses had other types of roofs while some didn't report about the roof structure.

With respect to the toilets, 728 out of 4,305 houses didn't report of having a private toilet for their households. Nevertheless, 2,039 houses were reported of having flush toilet while 1,522 houses reported having ordinary toilets.

Utilities

In Biruwa Rural Municipality, there were total 3,530 houses, which were equiped with piped tap water resources while 2 houses were reported of having tubewell water facilities. Same as, 70 houses had covered well while 111 houses didn't have any cover on their tubewell. With reference to source of fuel, 4,074 households reported their source of fuel as firewood while 26 households had kerosene as their fuel source. The LP gas was used by 126 households as a source of fuel. Moreover, other sources of fuel were cow dung (0), bio-gas (59), fuel electricity (4), etc.

Same as, total 2,878 households had reported of having electricity as the source of their household's lighting. The households still using kerosene as source of light were 1,127, while 241 households used solar energy as source of lights. Total 0 households also reported of using bio-gas as a source of light. The ratio of use of electricity as compared to other source of light was 0.67.

Facilities

out of 4,305 households in Biruwa Rural Municipality, 678 houses reported of having no any facility in their household while 3,577 households reported of using at least one facility. According to 2018 Economic Census, there are total 329 establishments in Biruwa Rural Municipality that are involved in various economic activities.
