Bidur is a Municipality, which is located in Nuwakot district, Province No. 3 of Nepal. Bidur has total 13 wards, which are scattered across 130 square kilometers of geographical area. According to 2011 Census conducted by Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Bidur Municipality had total population of 54,351.

Wardwise Population and Households

As per 2011 population census, Bidur Municipality had total 54,351 population with 25,228 males and 29,123 females. Out of total wards, ward number 13 had the largest population 5,722, while ward number 11 had least number of population with 5,722.

With respect to number of households, Bidur Municipality had total 12,505 households. The ward number 9 had most households with total 1,336, while ward number 11 had least number of households with total 641 number of households.Wardwise Population Chart of Bidur Municipality

As illustrated in the chart, the ratio of male to female population was 0.87, which indicates that Bidur Municipality had 13 percent lower males as compared to the females. Same as, the population to household ratio was 4.35, which means that in average 4.35 family members lived in each household.

Population by Age Group

In terms of age, the largest population in Bidur Municipality were between 10 and 14 years of age with total 6,852. However, gender wise largest population age group differs from the total population, such as largest male population falls between 10 and 14 with total 3,422 while female population falls between 15 and 19 with total 3,609 population. The least populated age group was between 70 and 74 with total 1,019 population, which consistes of 499 males and 520 females. Top 5 most populated age groups were between 10 and 14 (6,852), between 15 and 19 (6,583), between 5 and 9 (5,376), between 20 and 24 (4,758), between 25 and 29 (4,057) with total population of 27,626. In contrast, bottom 5 least populated age groups were between 70 and 74 (1,019), between 65 and 69 (1,388), above 75 (1,532), between 60 and 64 (1,678), and between 55 and 59 (1,985) with total population of 7,602. Gender wise, top 5 most age groups male population were between 10 and 14 (3,422), between 15 and 19 (2,974), between 5 and 9 (2,752), below 4 (2,107), and between 20 and 24 (1,759), with total population of 13,014. In contrast, bottom 5 least age group male population were between 70 and 74 (499), between 65 and 69 (707), above 75 (718),between 60 and 64 (802), and between 55 and 59 (1,026), with total population of 3,752. With regards to female population, top 5 age groups females were between 15 and 19 (3,609), between 10 and 14 (3,430), between 20 and 24 (2,999), between 5 and 9 (2,624), and between 25 and 29 (2,432), with total population of 15,094. In contrast, bottom 5 least age group male population were between 70 and 74 (520), between 65 and 69 (681), above 75 (814),between 60 and 64 (876), and between 55 and 59 (959), with total population of 3,850.

The population with age-group below 4 had male to female ratio of 1.09, which states that this age group had maximum males as compared to females. Similarly, age-group 20 to 24 had most female population as compared to male population with male to female ratio of 0.59. The age-groups below 4, 55 to 59, 5 to 9, 65 to 69 had majority of male population while age-groups 50 to 54, 70 to 74, 45 to 49, 60 to 64, above 75, 40 to 44, 15 to 19, 30 to 34, 35 to 39, 25 to 29, 20 to 24 had majority of female population as per male-female ratios. Moreover, age-groups 10 to 14 had eqivalent or almost equal numbers of male and female population with male-female ratios of 1.

There were 62.82 % (34,146 ) of independent population, the working age people between ages of 15 and 64 years. The dependent children, ages below 15 years, were 29.93 % with total number of 16,266. The dependent elderly population, aged 65 and above were 7.25 % with total number of 3,939. As such, total dependent population including children and elderly people were 37.18 with total number of 20,205

There were 16,027 women of child-bearing age-group of 15 to 49 years. Same as, the todlers or children of 4 years or below were 4,038. The ratio of woman of child-bearing age and the number of todlers state that, approximately 252 children were born per 1,000 women. This number is also roughly used as fertility levels when direct measures of births are not available.

Grade 1-12 Students & Schools

According to Nepal Government records as of 2017, there were total 4,894 in Bidur Municipality with 2,308 (47.16%) of males and 2,586 (52.84%) females. There were total 90 schools. In average, 54 students were studying in each school.

According to 2011 census conducted by Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Bidur Municipality was inhabitted by mostly the people of Brahmin - Hill caste with total population of 12,190. There were as little as Bangali caste with population of as little as 12 in total. People of several other castes who live in Bidur are Tamang, Chhetri, Newar, Kumal, Kami, Magar, Sarki, Rai, Damai/Dholi, Gharti/Bhujel, Thakuri, Majhi, Gurung, Muslim, Ghale, Sanyasi/Dashnami, Dalit Others, Sunuwar, Teli, Badi, Kalwar, Terai Others, Hajam/Thakur, Tharu, Danuwar, Sherpa, Kathbaniyan, Yadav, Undefined Others, Mallaha, Chamar/Harijan/Ram, Bangali, etc. Only the population of castes with above 1,000 population are illustrated in the table.

Top five castes of people in Bidur Municipality are Brahmin - Hill (12,190), Tamang (10,677), Chhetri (10,247), Newar (6,822) and Kumal (2,408) with total population of 42,344, which forms 77.91 percent out of total population of 54,351 in Bidur Municipality.

Population by Disability

Out of total population of 54,351, there were total 690 (1.27%) disabled persons in Bidur Municipality with 387 (56.09%) males and 303 (43.91%) females. The physically disabled persons were 280, while mentally disabled people were 49 and intellectually disabled were 27.

Similarly, there were 127 people who were blind and 78 people were deaf, while 9 people were both blind and deaf. Moreover, 75 persons had reported of having speech problems. Total 45 people had multiple disabilities.

Household Foundation

Out of total 12505 households in Bidur Municipality, there were 9,890 houses that were founded on mud bonded while 1,537 houses were cement bonded. Same as, 906 households were reported of being founded on RCC piller, 21houses were founded on wood.

There were several types of house roofs reported. Total 133 houses were reported of having thatch roofs while 9,982 houses had galvanized roofs. Similarly, 415 houses had roof of tile, 1,775 houses had RCC roofs, 8 houses had roof of woods while 4 houses were reported having roof of mud. As per 2011 CBS census, some of the houses had other types of roofs while some didn't report about the roof structure.

With respect to the toilets, 2,436 out of 12,505 houses didn't report of having a private toilet for their households. Nevertheless, 8,126 houses were reported of having flush toilet while 1,850 houses reported having ordinary toilets.

Utilities

In Bidur Municipality, there were total 11,494 houses, which were equiped with piped tap water resources while 20 houses were reported of having tubewell water facilities. Same as, 73 houses had covered well while 187 houses didn't have any cover on their tubewell. With reference to source of fuel, 8,604 households reported their source of fuel as firewood while 164 households had kerosene as their fuel source. The LP gas was used by 2,930 households as a source of fuel. Moreover, other sources of fuel were cow dung (7), bio-gas (641), fuel electricity (48), etc.

Same as, total 11,919 households had reported of having electricity as the source of their household's lighting. The households still using kerosene as source of light were 391, while 6 households used solar energy as source of lights. Total 0 households also reported of using bio-gas as a source of light. The ratio of use of electricity as compared to other source of light was 0.95.

Facilities

out of 12,505 households in Bidur Municipality, 1,219 houses reported of having no any facility in their household while 10,946 households reported of using at least one facility. In those establishments, total 10,480 persons are engaged for the economic activities, as a self-employed or an employee, with total male engagement of 6,606 and female engagement of 3,874 persons.In every business, there were an average of 3.48 people engaged with average males are 2.19 and females are 1.29.
