Bhumlu is a Rural Municipality, which is located in Kavrepalanchok district, Province No. 3 of Nepal. Bhumlu has total 10 wards, which are scattered across 91 square kilometers of geographical area. According to 2011 Census conducted by Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Bhumlu Rural Municipality had total population of 18,916.

As of 2011, 845 population in Bhumlu Rural Municipality were absent from their households, which equals to 4.47 percent of the total population. Absence of males was 707, which equals to 8.02 percent of total 8,816 males. Same as, 138 females were absent, which equals to 1.37 percent of 10,100 females. At least one member of 626 (13.87 percent) households were absent.

Gender wise, top 5 most age groups male population were between 10 and 14 (1,323), between 15 and 19 (1,051), between 5 and 9 (886), below 4 (644), and between 20 and 24 (567), with total population of 4,471. In contrast, bottom 5 least age group male population were between 70 and 74 (245), above 75 (263), between 65 and 69 (270),between 60 and 64 (382), and between 55 and 59 (391), with total population of 1,551. With regards to female population, top 5 age groups females were between 10 and 14 (1,320), between 15 and 19 (1,287), between 5 and 9 (974), between 20 and 24 (763), and between 35 and 39 (645), with total population of 4,989. In contrast, bottom 5 least age group male population were between 70 and 74 (214), between 65 and 69 (311), above 75 (321),between 60 and 64 (383), and between 55 and 59 (393), with total population of 1,622.

The population with age-group 70 to 74 had male to female ratio of 1.14, which states that this age group had maximum males as compared to females. Similarly, age-group 35 to 39 had most female population as compared to male population with male to female ratio of 0.69. The age-groups 70 to 74, 50 to 54, below 4 had majority of male population while age-groups 55 to 59, 5 to 9, 40 to 44, 65 to 69, 45 to 49, 15 to 19, above 75, 20 to 24, 25 to 29, 30 to 34, 35 to 39 had majority of female population as per male-female ratios. Moreover, age-groups 10 to 14, 60 to 64 had eqivalent or almost equal numbers of male and female population with male-female ratios of 1.

There were 60.83 % (11,507 ) of independent population, the working age people between ages of 15 and 64 years. The dependent children, ages below 15 years, were 30.58 % with total number of 5,785. The dependent elderly population, aged 65 and above were 8.59 % with total number of 1,624. As such, total dependent population including children and elderly people were 39.17 with total number of 7,409

There were 5,075 women of child-bearing age-group of 15 to 49 years. Same as, the todlers or children of 4 years or below were 1,282. The ratio of woman of child-bearing age and the number of todlers state that, approximately 253 children were born per 1,000 women. This number is also roughly used as fertility levels when direct measures of births are not available.

According to Nepal Government records as of 2017, there were total 8,700 in Bhumlu Rural Municipality with 4,162 (47.84%) of males and 4,538 (52.16%) females. There were total 56 schools. In average, 155 students were studying in each school.

There were as little as Hajam/Thakur caste with population of as little as 12 in total. People of several other castes who live in Bhumlu are Chhetri, Pahari, Brahmin - Hill, Newar, Majhi, Sanyasi/Dashnami, Kami, Sarki, Damai/Dholi, Gharti/Bhujel, Thakuri, Bhote, Magar, Terai Others, Kayastha, Hajam/Thakur, etc. Only the population of castes with above 1,000 population are illustrated in the table.

Top five castes of people in Bhumlu Rural Municipality are Tamang (4,785), Chhetri (4,309), Pahari (2,458), Brahmin - Hill (1,896) and Newar (1,367) with total population of 14,815, which forms 78.32 percent out of total population of 18,916 in Bhumlu Rural Municipality.

Out of total population of 18,916, there were total 485 (2.56%) disabled persons in Bhumlu Rural Municipality with 254 (52.37%) males and 231 (47.63%) females. The physically disabled persons were 140, while mentally disabled people were 29 and intellectually disabled were 8.

Similarly, there were 87 people who were blind and 87 people were deaf, while 41 people were both blind and deaf. Moreover, 55 persons had reported of having speech problems. Total 38 people had multiple disabilities.

Out of total 4513 households in Bhumlu Rural Municipality, there were 4,310 houses that were founded on mud bonded while 76 houses were cement bonded. Same as, 15 households were reported of being founded on RCC piller, 18houses were founded on wood.

With respect to wall of the houses, 4,286 houses were mud bonded, 105 houses were cement bonded, 19 houses were wood planks bonded, 6 houses were bamboo bonded and 0 houses had unbaked bricks on their outer walls.Rest of the houses were reported of having other types of outer wall, while some of them reported nothing of having the outer wall bonding.

There were several types of house roofs reported. Total 361 houses were reported of having thatch roofs while 3,224 houses had galvanized roofs. Similarly, 781 houses had roof of tile, 50 houses had RCC roofs, 0 houses had roof of woods while 0 houses were reported having roof of mud. As per 2011 CBS census, some of the houses had other types of roofs while some didn't report about the roof structure.

With respect to the toilets, 1,796 out of 4,513 houses didn't report of having a private toilet for their households. Nevertheless, 1,648 houses were reported of having flush toilet while 1,034 houses reported having ordinary toilets.

In Bhumlu Rural Municipality, there were total 4,156 houses, which were equiped with piped tap water resources while 2 houses were reported of having tubewell water facilities. Same as, 29 houses had covered well while 158 houses didn't have any cover on their tubewell. Other resources of water facilities were spout water (106) and river stream (26), which were reported of the household's source of water.

With reference to source of fuel, 4,246 households reported their source of fuel as firewood while 31 households had kerosene as their fuel source. The LP gas was used by 153 households as a source of fuel. Moreover, other sources of fuel were cow dung (5), bio-gas (37), fuel electricity (2), etc.

Same as, total 3,882 households had reported of having electricity as the source of their household's lighting. The households still using kerosene as source of light were 474, while 94 households used solar energy as source of lights. Total 0 households also reported of using bio-gas as a source of light. The ratio of use of electricity as compared to other source of light was 0.86.

out of 4,513 households in Bhumlu Rural Municipality, 751 houses reported of having no any facility in their household while 3,595 households reported of using at least one facility. Households using at least one facility, such as radio, television, internet, etc. have been illustrated in the table below.Radio was used by the maximum households with total users of 2,949, while MobilePhone was the next mostly used facilities with total household users of 2,169.

According to 2018 Economic Census, there are total 447 establishments in Bhumlu Rural Municipality that are involved in various economic activities. In those establishments, total 983 persons are engaged for the economic activities, as a self-employed or an employee, with total male engagement of 558 and female engagement of 425 persons.In every business, there were an average of 2.20 people engaged with average males are 1.25 and females are 0.95. The ratio of male to female engagement in the establishments are 1.31, which means as many as 1.31 males are enagement in the economic activities per female.
