The candidte of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) - Sudan Rai secured 17,578 (49.96%) votes and secured victory in the election. The runner-up candidate was Sher Dhan Rai of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) who secured 9,885 (28.10%) votes and came in second position.
