In 2017 election of Bheri Municipality (Jajarkot district), candidate Chandra Prakash Gharti of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 4,292 (37.04%) votes out of total votes of 11,589 and was elected as a Mayor. The first runner-up candidate was Sanat Kumar Karki of Nepali Congress Party (NC) who secured 3,787 (23.85%) of votes. The rest of 5 candidates for the position of Mayor secured combined 3,510 (15.14) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Deputy Mayor, candidate Bhawana Bhandari of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 4,162 (36.72%) and was elected as a Deputy Mayor, while Krishna Sharma of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) secured 3,504 (22.61%) of votes and came in second position. Other 3 candidates who contested for Deputy Mayor secured combined 3,667 (16.18) of votes.

As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 230 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 136 (59.13%) males and 94 (40.87%) females. Moreover, there were total 46 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 13 wards. Same as, total 88 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 42 females and 42 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
