Belkotgadhi Municipality (Nuwakot) Election Results 2017
In 2017 election of Belkotgadhi Municipality (Nuwakot district), candidate Rajendra Raman Khanal of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 6,643 (35.63%) votes out of total votes of 18,645 and was elected as a Mayor. The first runner-up candidate was Jagat Bahadur Gurung of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) who secured 6,351 (25.11%) of votes. The rest of 7 candidates for the position of Mayor secured combined 5,651 (15.15) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Deputy Mayor, candidate Kabita Dhungana of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) secured 6,656 (36.44%) and was elected as a Deputy Mayor, while Rupa Sapkota of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 6,460 (25.92%) of votes and came in second position. Other 3 candidates who contested for Deputy Mayor secured combined 5,148 (14.09) of votes.

As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 268 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 169 (63.06%) males and 99 (36.94%) females. Moreover, there were total 65 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 13 wards. Same as, total 99 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 48 females and 42 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
