Bahradashi is a Rural Municipality, which is located in Jhapa district, Province No. 1 of Nepal. Bahradashi has total 7 wards, which are scattered across 88 square kilometers of geographical area. According to 2011 Census conducted by Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Bahradashi Rural Municipality had total population of 33,653.

Wardwise Population and Households

As per 2011 population census, Bahradashi Rural Municipality had total 33,653 population with 15,710 males and 17,943 females. Out of total wards, ward number 5 had the largest population 6,402, while ward number 7 had least number of population with 6,402.

In terms of age, the largest population in Bahradashi Rural Municipality were between 10 and 14 years of age with total 4,264. Gender wise, there were 2,140 males and 2,124 females of the same age group. The least populated age group was between 70 and 74 with total 567 population, which consistes of 303 males and 264 females. Top 5 most populated age groups were between 10 and 14 (4,264), between 5 and 9 (3,664), between 15 and 19 (3,638), below 4 (3,165), between 20 and 24 (2,789) with total population of 17,520. Gender wise, top 5 most age groups male population were between 10 and 14 (2,140), between 5 and 9 (1,836), between 15 and 19 (1,726), below 4 (1,634), and between 20 and 24 (1,027), with total population of 8,363. In contrast, bottom 5 least age group male population were above 75 (295), between 70 and 74 (303), between 65 and 69 (394),between 60 and 64 (579), and between 55 and 59 (587), with total population of 2,158. With regards to female population, top 5 age groups females were between 10 and 14 (2,124), between 15 and 19 (1,912), between 5 and 9 (1,828), between 20 and 24 (1,762), and between 25 and 29 (1,584), with total population of 9,210. In contrast, bottom 5 least age group male population were between 70 and 74 (264), above 75 (295), between 65 and 69 (383),between 55 and 59 (553), and between 60 and 64 (568), with total population of 2,063.

The population with age-group 70 to 74 had male to female ratio of 1.15, which states that this age group had maximum males as compared to females. Similarly, age-group 25 to 29 had most female population as compared to male population with male to female ratio of 0.58. The age-groups 70 to 74, below 4, 55 to 59, 65 to 69, 60 to 64, 10 to 14 had majority of male population while age-groups 50 to 54, 45 to 49, 15 to 19, 40 to 44, 35 to 39, 30 to 34, 20 to 24, 25 to 29 had majority of female population as per male-female ratios. Moreover, age-groups 5 to 9, above 75 had eqivalent or almost equal numbers of male and female population with male-female ratios of 1.

There were 61.29 % (20,626 ) of independent population, the working age people between ages of 15 and 64 years. The dependent children, ages below 15 years, were 32.96 % with total number of 11,093. The dependent elderly population, aged 65 and above were 5.75 % with total number of 1,934. As such, total dependent population including children and elderly people were 38.71 with total number of 13,027

There were 9,665 women of child-bearing age-group of 15 to 49 years. Same as, the todlers or children of 4 years or below were 3,165. The ratio of woman of child-bearing age and the number of todlers state that, approximately 327 children were born per 1,000 women. This number is also roughly used as fertility levels when direct measures of births are not available.

Grade 1-12 Students & Schools

According to Nepal Government records as of 2017, there were total 7,092 in Bahradashi Rural Municipality with 3,532 (49.80%) of males and 3,560 (50.20%) females. There were total 31 schools. In average, 229 students were studying in each school.

According to 2011 census conducted by Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Bahradashi Rural Municipality was inhabitted by mostly the people of Rajbansi caste with total population of 7,161. Top five castes of people in Bahradashi Rural Municipality are Rajbansi (7,161), Brahmin - Hill (6,703), Chhetri (4,196), Muslim (3,127) and Satar/Santhal (2,632) with total population of 23,819, which forms 70.78 percent out of total population of 33,653 in Bahradashi Rural Municipality.

Population by Disability

Out of total population of 33,653, there were total 862 (2.56%) disabled persons in Bahradashi Rural Municipality with 493 (57.19%) males and 369 (42.81%) females. The physically disabled persons were 372, while mentally disabled people were 70 and intellectually disabled were 19.

Similarly, there were 114 people who were blind and 93 people were deaf, while 10 people were both blind and deaf. Moreover, 111 persons had reported of having speech problems. Total 73 people had multiple disabilities.

Household Foundation

Out of total 7398 households in Bahradashi Rural Municipality, there were 198 houses that were founded on mud bonded while 942 houses were cement bonded. Same as, 720 households were reported of being founded on RCC piller, 4,199houses were founded on wood.

There were several types of house roofs reported. Total 1,092 houses were reported of having thatch roofs while 5,825 houses had galvanized roofs. Similarly, 24 houses had roof of tile, 285 houses had RCC roofs, 19 houses had roof of woods while 0 houses were reported having roof of mud. As per 2011 CBS census, some of the houses had other types of roofs while some didn't report about the roof structure.

With respect to the toilets, 3,636 out of 7,398 houses didn't report of having a private toilet for their households. Nevertheless, 1,996 houses were reported of having flush toilet while 1,741 houses reported having ordinary toilets.

Utilities

In Bahradashi Rural Municipality, there were total 89 houses, which were equiped with piped tap water resources while 7,142 houses were reported of having tubewell water facilities. Same as, 18 houses had covered well while 20 houses didn't have any cover on their tubewell. With reference to source of fuel, 5,348 households reported their source of fuel as firewood while 54 households had kerosene as their fuel source. The LP gas was used by 300 households as a source of fuel. Moreover, other sources of fuel were cow dung (966), bio-gas (614), fuel electricity (3), etc.

Same as, total 4,230 households had reported of having electricity as the source of their household's lighting. The households still using kerosene as source of light were 2,874, while 207 households used solar energy as source of lights. Total 0 households also reported of using bio-gas as a source of light. The ratio of use of electricity as compared to other source of light was 0.57.

Facilities

out of 7,398 households in Bahradashi Rural Municipality, 641 houses reported of having no any facility in their household while 6,670 households reported of using at least one facility. According to 2018 Economic Census, there are total 1,038 establishments in Bahradashi Rural Municipality that are involved in various economic activities. In those establishments, total 3,682 persons are engaged for the economic activities, as a self-employed or an employee, with total male engagement of 1,972 and female engagement of 1,710 persons.In every business, there were an average of 3.55 people engaged with average males are 1.90 and females are 1.65.
