Bagmati Municipality (Sarlahi) Election Results 2017
In 2017 election of Bagmati Municipality (Sarlahi district), candidate Bharat Kumar Thapa of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) secured 7,281 (51.26%) votes out of total votes of 14,205 and was elected as a Mayor. The first runner-up candidate was Bishnu Bahadur Magar of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) who secured 4,343 (20.21%) of votes. The rest of 5 candidates for the position of Mayor secured combined 2,581 (9.08) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Deputy Mayor, candidate Lila Kumari Muktan of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) secured 6,394 (46.03%) and was elected as a Deputy Mayor, while Biba Kumari Nepal of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 4,771 (23.52%) of votes and came in second position. Other 4 candidates who contested for Deputy Mayor secured combined 2,727 (9.82) of votes.

As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 241 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 140 (58.09%) males and 101 (41.91%) females. Moreover, there were total 53 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 12 wards. Same as, total 89 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 42 females and 44 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
