Baglung Municipality (Baglung) Election Results 2017
In 2017 election of Baglung Municipality (Baglung district), candidate Janak Raj Paudel of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 12,361 (54.54%) votes out of total votes of 22,663 and was elected as a Mayor. The first runner-up candidate was Basanta Kumar Shrestha of Nepali Congress Party (NC) who secured 10,067 (28.74%) of votes. The rest of 4 candidates for the position of Mayor secured combined 235 (0.52) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Deputy Mayor, candidate Surendra Khadka of Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) secured 11,187 (53.67%) and was elected as a Deputy Mayor, while Shakuntala Sharma of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 9,431 (29.44%) of votes and came in second position. Other 2 candidates who contested for Deputy Mayor secured combined 226 (0.54) of votes.

As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 195 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 121 (62.05%) males and 74 (37.95%) females. Moreover, there were total 41 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 14 wards. Same as, total 76 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 34 females and 34 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
