In 2017 election of Baganaskali Rural Municipality (Palpa district), candidate Krishna Prasad Basyal of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 5,594 (49.92%) votes out of total votes of 11,205 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Devi Prasad Basyal of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) who secured 5,346 (31.82%) of votes. The rest of 5 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 265 (1.18) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Saraswati Darlami (chidi) of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 5,555 (55.82%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Krishna Prasad Bhusal of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) secured 4,058 (26.17%) of votes and came in second position. Other 3 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 338 (1.70) of votes.

As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 155 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 91 (58.71%) males and 64 (41.29%) females. Moreover, there were total 34 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 9 wards. Same as, total 58 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 27 females and 24 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
