Banphikot is a Rural Municipality, which is located in Rukum_W district, Karnali Province of Nepal. Banphikot has total 10 wards, which are scattered across 190 square kilometers of geographical area. According to 2011 Census conducted by Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Banphikot Rural Municipality had total population of 18,696.

As of 2011, 1,312 population in Banphikot Rural Municipality were absent from their households, which equals to 7.02 percent of the total population. Absence of males was 1,129, which equals to 12.96 percent of total 8,713 males. Same as, 183 females were absent, which equals to 1.83 percent of 9,983 females. Gender wise, top 5 most age groups male population were between 5 and 9 (1,437), between 10 and 14 (1,326), below 4 (1,180), between 15 and 19 (990), and between 20 and 24 (603), with total population of 5,536. In contrast, bottom 5 least age group male population were above 75 (88), between 70 and 74 (98), between 65 and 69 (164),between 60 and 64 (228), and between 55 and 59 (252), with total population of 830. With regards to female population, top 5 age groups females were between 10 and 14 (1,478), between 5 and 9 (1,451), between 15 and 19 (1,185), below 4 (1,183), and between 20 and 24 (961), with total population of 6,258. The population with age-group 65 to 69 had male to female ratio of 1.30, which states that this age group had maximum males as compared to females. Similarly, age-group 20 to 24 had most female population as compared to male population with male to female ratio of 0.63. The age-groups 65 to 69, above 75, 70 to 74, 50 to 54 had majority of male population while age-groups 5 to 9, 55 to 59, 10 to 14, 45 to 49, 60 to 64, 15 to 19, 40 to 44, 35 to 39, 30 to 34, 25 to 29, 20 to 24 had majority of female population as per male-female ratios. Moreover, age-groups below 4 had eqivalent or almost equal numbers of male and female population with male-female ratios of 1.

There were as little as Badi caste with population of as little as 18 in total. People of several other castes who live in Banphikot are Kami, Magar, Thakuri, Brahmin - Hill, Damai/Dholi, Sarki, Sanyasi/Dashnami, Gaine, Dalit Others, Gurung, Badi, etc. Only the population of castes with above 1,000 population are illustrated in the table.

Top five castes of people in Banphikot Rural Municipality are Chhetri (10,375), Kami (2,243), Magar (1,817), Thakuri (1,670) and Brahmin - Hill (1,338) with total population of 17,443, which forms 93.30 percent out of total population of 18,696 in Banphikot Rural Municipality.

Out of total population of 18,696, there were total 397 (2.12%) disabled persons in Banphikot Rural Municipality with 211 (53.15%) males and 186 (46.85%) females. The physically disabled persons were 152, while mentally disabled people were 12 and intellectually disabled were 6.

Out of total 3747 households in Banphikot Rural Municipality, there were 3,703 houses that were founded on mud bonded while 14 houses were cement bonded. Same as, 1 households were reported of being founded on RCC piller, 6houses were founded on wood.

With respect to wall of the houses, 3,674 houses were mud bonded, 32 houses were cement bonded, 18 houses were wood planks bonded, 0 houses were bamboo bonded and 0 houses had unbaked bricks on their outer walls.Rest of the houses were reported of having other types of outer wall, while some of them reported nothing of having the outer wall bonding.

There were several types of house roofs reported. Total 2,575 houses were reported of having thatch roofs while 377 houses had galvanized roofs. Similarly, 771 houses had roof of tile, 1 houses had RCC roofs, 1 houses had roof of woods while 0 houses were reported having roof of mud. As per 2011 CBS census, some of the houses had other types of roofs while some didn't report about the roof structure.

With respect to the toilets, 2,391 out of 3,747 houses didn't report of having a private toilet for their households. Nevertheless, 322 houses were reported of having flush toilet while 1,020 houses reported having ordinary toilets.

In Banphikot Rural Municipality, there were total 2,666 houses, which were equiped with piped tap water resources while 2 houses were reported of having tubewell water facilities. Same as, 2 houses had covered well while 49 houses didn't have any cover on their tubewell. Other resources of water facilities were spout water (890) and river stream (99), which were reported of the household's source of water.

With reference to source of fuel, 3,716 households reported their source of fuel as firewood while 5 households had kerosene as their fuel source. The LP gas was used by 1 households as a source of fuel. Moreover, other sources of fuel were cow dung (7), bio-gas (1), fuel electricity (2), etc.

Same as, total 1,019 households had reported of having electricity as the source of their household's lighting. The households still using kerosene as source of light were 143, while 1,489 households used solar energy as source of lights. Total 0 households also reported of using bio-gas as a source of light. The ratio of use of electricity as compared to other source of light was 0.27.

out of 3,747 households in Banphikot Rural Municipality, 873 houses reported of having no any facility in their household while 2,760 households reported of using at least one facility. Households using at least one facility, such as radio, television, internet, etc. have been illustrated in the table below.Radio was used by the maximum households with total users of 2,482, while MobilePhone was the next mostly used facilities with total household users of 1,233.

According to 2018 Economic Census, there are total 360 establishments in Banphikot Rural Municipality that are involved in various economic activities. In those establishments, total 876 persons are engaged for the economic activities, as a self-employed or an employee, with total male engagement of 536 and female engagement of 340 persons.In every business, there were an average of 2.43 people engaged with average males are 1.49 and females are 0.94. The ratio of male to female engagement in the establishments are 1.58, which means as many as 1.58 males are enagement in the economic activities per female.
