Kushe is a Rural Municipality, which is located in Jajarkot district, Karnali Province of Nepal. Kushe has total 9 wards, which are scattered across 274 square kilometers of geographical area. According to 2011 Census conducted by Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Kushe Rural Municipality had total population of 20,621.

As of 2011, 306 population in Kushe Rural Municipality were absent from their households, which equals to 1.48 percent of the total population. Absence of males was 238, which equals to 2.29 percent of total 10,407 males. Same as, 68 females were absent, which equals to 0.67 percent of 10,214 females. At least one member of 173 (4.82 percent) households were absent.

Gender wise, top 5 most age groups male population were between 5 and 9 (1,751), below 4 (1,658), between 10 and 14 (1,452), between 15 and 19 (1,000), and between 20 and 24 (794), with total population of 6,655. In contrast, bottom 5 least age group male population were above 75 (65), between 70 and 74 (77), between 65 and 69 (127),between 60 and 64 (228), and between 55 and 59 (296), with total population of 793. With regards to female population, top 5 age groups females were between 5 and 9 (1,723), below 4 (1,569), between 10 and 14 (1,444), between 15 and 19 (1,009), and between 20 and 24 (861), with total population of 6,606. In contrast, bottom 5 least age group male population were above 75 (31), between 70 and 74 (54), between 65 and 69 (142),between 60 and 64 (214), and between 55 and 59 (217), with total population of 658.

The population with age-group above 75 had male to female ratio of 2.10, which states that this age group had maximum males as compared to females. Similarly, age-group 65 to 69 had most female population as compared to male population with male to female ratio of 0.89. The age-groups above 75, 70 to 74, 55 to 59, 50 to 54, 45 to 49, 60 to 64, below 4, 35 to 39, 5 to 9, 40 to 44, 10 to 14 had majority of male population while age-groups 15 to 19, 20 to 24, 25 to 29, 30 to 34, 65 to 69 had majority of female population as per male-female ratios. Moreover, age-groups had eqivalent or almost equal numbers of male and female population with male-female ratios of 1.

There were 51.05 % (10,528 ) of independent population, the working age people between ages of 15 and 64 years. The dependent children, ages below 15 years, were 46.54 % with total number of 9,597. The dependent elderly population, aged 65 and above were 2.41 % with total number of 496. As such, total dependent population including children and elderly people were 48.95 with total number of 10,093

There were 4,562 women of child-bearing age-group of 15 to 49 years. Same as, the todlers or children of 4 years or below were 3,227. The ratio of woman of child-bearing age and the number of todlers state that, approximately 707 children were born per 1,000 women. This number is also roughly used as fertility levels when direct measures of births are not available.

According to Nepal Government records as of 2017, there were total 8,443 in Kushe Rural Municipality with 4,154 (49.20%) of males and 4,289 (50.80%) females. There were total 51 schools. In average, 166 students were studying in each school.

According to 2011 census conducted by Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Kushe Rural Municipality was inhabitted by mostly the people of Thakuri caste with total population of 6,513. There were as little as Thakali caste with population of as little as 13 in total. People of several other castes who live in Kushe are Chhetri, Kami, Brahmin - Hill, Magar, Sarki, Damai/Dholi, Badi, Sanyasi/Dashnami, Terai Others, Tharu, Thakali, etc. Only the population of castes with above 1,000 population are illustrated in the table.

Top five castes of people in Kushe Rural Municipality are Thakuri (6,513), Chhetri (5,427), Kami (3,808), Brahmin - Hill (1,812) and Magar (1,434) with total population of 18,994, which forms 92.11 percent out of total population of 20,621 in Kushe Rural Municipality.

Out of total population of 20,621, there were total 656 (3.18%) disabled persons in Kushe Rural Municipality with 364 (55.49%) males and 292 (44.51%) females. The physically disabled persons were 270, while mentally disabled people were 19 and intellectually disabled were 6.

Similarly, there were 144 people who were blind and 110 people were deaf, while 16 people were both blind and deaf. Moreover, 55 persons had reported of having speech problems. Total 36 people had multiple disabilities.

Out of total 3590 households in Kushe Rural Municipality, there were 3,529 houses that were founded on mud bonded while 4 houses were cement bonded. Same as, 0 households were reported of being founded on RCC piller, 24houses were founded on wood.

With respect to wall of the houses, 3,505 houses were mud bonded, 17 houses were cement bonded, 25 houses were wood planks bonded, 9 houses were bamboo bonded and 0 houses had unbaked bricks on their outer walls.Rest of the houses were reported of having other types of outer wall, while some of them reported nothing of having the outer wall bonding.

There were several types of house roofs reported. Total 877 houses were reported of having thatch roofs while 43 houses had galvanized roofs. Similarly, 2,567 houses had roof of tile, 3 houses had RCC roofs, 4 houses had roof of woods while 55 houses were reported having roof of mud. As per 2011 CBS census, some of the houses had other types of roofs while some didn't report about the roof structure.

With respect to the toilets, 2,368 out of 3,590 houses didn't report of having a private toilet for their households. Nevertheless, 254 houses were reported of having flush toilet while 947 houses reported having ordinary toilets.

In Kushe Rural Municipality, there were total 1,846 houses, which were equiped with piped tap water resources while 7 houses were reported of having tubewell water facilities. Same as, 34 houses had covered well while 96 houses didn't have any cover on their tubewell. Other resources of water facilities were spout water (1403) and river stream (182), which were reported of the household's source of water.

With reference to source of fuel, 3,553 households reported their source of fuel as firewood while 3 households had kerosene as their fuel source. The LP gas was used by 1 households as a source of fuel. Moreover, other sources of fuel were cow dung (7), bio-gas (5), fuel electricity (0), etc.

Same as, total 16 households had reported of having electricity as the source of their household's lighting. The households still using kerosene as source of light were 172, while 1,122 households used solar energy as source of lights. Total 0 households also reported of using bio-gas as a source of light. The ratio of use of electricity as compared to other source of light was 0.00.

out of 3,590 households in Kushe Rural Municipality, 1,434 houses reported of having no any facility in their household while 1,981 households reported of using at least one facility. Households using at least one facility, such as radio, television, internet, etc. have been illustrated in the table below.Radio was used by the maximum households with total users of 1,813, while MobilePhone was the next mostly used facilities with total household users of 695.

According to 2018 Economic Census, there are total 243 establishments in Kushe Rural Municipality that are involved in various economic activities. In those establishments, total 697 persons are engaged for the economic activities, as a self-employed or an employee, with total male engagement of 434 and female engagement of 263 persons.In every business, there were an average of 2.87 people engaged with average males are 1.79 and females are 1.08. The ratio of male to female engagement in the establishments are 1.65, which means as many as 1.65 males are enagement in the economic activities per female.
