Tulsipur is a Sub-Metropolitan City, which is located in Dang district, Province No. 5 of Nepal. Tulsipur has total 19 wards, which are scattered across 385 square kilometers of geographical area. According to 2011 Census conducted by Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Tulsipur Sub-Metropolitan City had total population of 141,528.

Wardwise Population and Households

As per 2011 population census, Tulsipur Sub-Metropolitan City had total 141,528 population with 66,675 males and 74,853 females. Out of total wards, ward number 6 had the largest population 12,969, while ward number 2 had least number of population with 12,969.

With respect to number of households, Tulsipur Sub-Metropolitan City had total 31,243 households. Gender wise, top 5 most age groups male population were between 10 and 14 (10,021), between 5 and 9 (8,749), between 15 and 19 (7,820), below 4 (6,750), and between 20 and 24 (5,129), with total population of 38,469. In contrast, bottom 5 least age group male population were above 75 (779), between 70 and 74 (800), between 65 and 69 (1,349),between 60 and 64 (1,796), and between 55 and 59 (2,115), with total population of 6,839. With regards to female population, top 5 age groups females were between 10 and 14 (9,553), between 15 and 19 (9,059), between 5 and 9 (8,276), between 20 and 24 (7,919), and between 25 and 29 (6,999), with total population of 41,806. In contrast, bottom 5 least age group male population were above 75 (750), between 70 and 74 (797), between 65 and 69 (1,239),between 60 and 64 (1,903), and between 55 and 59 (1,949), with total population of 6,638.

The population with age-group 55 to 59 had male to female ratio of 1.09, which states that this age group had maximum males as compared to females. Similarly, age-group 25 to 29 had most female population as compared to male population with male to female ratio of 0.63. The age-groups 55 to 59, 65 to 69, below 4, 5 to 9, 10 to 14, above 75 had majority of male population while age-groups 50 to 54, 45 to 49, 60 to 64, 40 to 44, 15 to 19, 35 to 39, 30 to 34, 20 to 24, 25 to 29 had majority of female population as per male-female ratios. Moreover, age-groups 70 to 74 had eqivalent or almost equal numbers of male and female population with male-female ratios of 1.

There were 60.86 % (86,131 ) of independent population, the working age people between ages of 15 and 64 years. The dependent children, ages below 15 years, were 35.10 % with total number of 49,683. The dependent elderly population, aged 65 and above were 4.04 % with total number of 5,714. As such, total dependent population including children and elderly people were 39.14 with total number of 55,397

There were 41,358 women of child-bearing age-group of 15 to 49 years. Same as, the todlers or children of 4 years or below were 13,084. The ratio of woman of child-bearing age and the number of todlers state that, approximately 316 children were born per 1,000 women. This number is also roughly used as fertility levels when direct measures of births are not available.

Grade 1-12 Students & Schools

According to Nepal Government records as of 2017, there were total 4,274 in Tulsipur Sub-Metropolitan City with 2,070 (48.43%) of males and 2,204 (51.57%) females. There were total 159 schools. In average, 27 students were studying in each school.

According to 2011 census conducted by Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Tulsipur Sub-Metropolitan City was inhabitted by mostly the people of Chhetri caste with total population of 45,013. Top five castes of people in Tulsipur Sub-Metropolitan City are Chhetri (45,013), Tharu (35,343), Brahmin - Hill (20,276), Magar (11,004) and Kami (9,785) with total population of 121,421, which forms 85.79 percent out of total population of 141,528 in Tulsipur Sub-Metropolitan City.

Population by Disability

Out of total population of 141,528, there were total 2,437 (1.72%) disabled persons in Tulsipur Sub-Metropolitan City with 1,291 (52.97%) males and 1,146 (47.03%) females. The physically disabled persons were 788, while mentally disabled people were 117 and intellectually disabled were 65.

Similarly, there were 506 people who were blind and 428 people were deaf, while 51 people were both blind and deaf. Moreover, 296 persons had reported of having speech problems. Total 186 people had multiple disabilities.

Household Foundation

Out of total 31243 households in Tulsipur Sub-Metropolitan City, there were 22,559 houses that were founded on mud bonded while 3,424 houses were cement bonded. Same as, 3,443 households were reported of being founded on RCC piller, 240houses were founded on wood.

There were several types of house roofs reported. Total 7,132 houses were reported of having thatch roofs while 14,086 houses had galvanized roofs. Similarly, 3,773 houses had roof of tile, 5,826 houses had RCC roofs, 124 houses had roof of woods while 0 houses were reported having roof of mud. As per 2011 CBS census, some of the houses had other types of roofs while some didn't report about the roof structure.

With respect to the toilets, 10,580 out of 31,243 houses didn't report of having a private toilet for their households. Nevertheless, 15,559 houses were reported of having flush toilet while 4,931 houses reported having ordinary toilets.

Utilities

In Tulsipur Sub-Metropolitan City, there were total 14,890 houses, which were equiped with piped tap water resources while 1,985 houses were reported of having tubewell water facilities. Same as, 5,572 houses had covered well while 5,734 houses didn't have any cover on their tubewell. With reference to source of fuel, 23,524 households reported their source of fuel as firewood while 172 households had kerosene as their fuel source. The LP gas was used by 5,232 households as a source of fuel. Moreover, other sources of fuel were cow dung (1,239), bio-gas (791), fuel electricity (12), etc.

Same as, total 21,961 households had reported of having electricity as the source of their household's lighting. The households still using kerosene as source of light were 7,707, while 568 households used solar energy as source of lights. Total 0 households also reported of using bio-gas as a source of light. The ratio of use of electricity as compared to other source of light was 0.70.

Facilities

out of 31,243 households in Tulsipur Sub-Metropolitan City, 2,914 houses reported of having no any facility in their household while 27,765 households reported of using at least one facility.
