Gaidahawa is a Rural Municipality, which is located in Rupandehi district, Province No. 5 of Nepal. Gaidahawa has total 9 wards, which are scattered across 97 square kilometers of geographical area. According to 2011 Census conducted by Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Gaidahawa Rural Municipality had total population of 47,565.

Wardwise Population and Households

As per 2011 population census, Gaidahawa Rural Municipality had total 47,565 population with 23,730 males and 23,835 females. Out of total wards, ward number 6 had the largest population 6,473, while ward number 9 had least number of population with 6,473.

In contrast, bottom 5 least age group male population were above 75 (378), between 70 and 74 (382), between 65 and 69 (587),between 60 and 64 (671), and between 55 and 59 (720), with total population of 2,738. With regards to female population, top 5 age groups females were between 10 and 14 (3,287), between 5 and 9 (3,265), below 4 (2,604), between 15 and 19 (2,596), and between 20 and 24 (2,093), with total population of 13,845. In contrast, bottom 5 least age group male population were above 75 (300), between 70 and 74 (342), between 65 and 69 (434),between 55 and 59 (667), and between 60 and 64 (712), with total population of 2,455.

The population with age-group 65 to 69 had male to female ratio of 1.35, which states that this age group had maximum males as compared to females. Similarly, age-group 25 to 29 had most female population as compared to male population with male to female ratio of 0.80. The age-groups 65 to 69, above 75, 70 to 74, 15 to 19, 55 to 59, 10 to 14, 45 to 49, below 4, 5 to 9, 50 to 54 had majority of male population while age-groups 40 to 44, 60 to 64, 35 to 39, 20 to 24, 30 to 34, 25 to 29 had majority of female population as per male-female ratios. Moreover, age-groups had eqivalent or almost equal numbers of male and female population with male-female ratios of 1.

There were 55.44 % (26,369 ) of independent population, the working age people between ages of 15 and 64 years. The dependent children, ages below 15 years, were 39.47 % with total number of 18,773. The dependent elderly population, aged 65 and above were 5.09 % with total number of 2,423. As such, total dependent population including children and elderly people were 44.56 with total number of 21,196

There were 11,460 women of child-bearing age-group of 15 to 49 years. Same as, the todlers or children of 4 years or below were 5,326. The ratio of woman of child-bearing age and the number of todlers state that, approximately 465 children were born per 1,000 women. This number is also roughly used as fertility levels when direct measures of births are not available.

Grade 1-12 Students & Schools

According to Nepal Government records as of 2017, there were total 11,360 in Gaidahawa Rural Municipality with 5,742 (50.55%) of males and 5,618 (49.45%) females. There were total 36 schools. In average, 316 students were studying in each school.

According to 2011 census conducted by Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Gaidahawa Rural Municipality was inhabitted by mostly the people of Yadav caste with total population of 5,391. There were as little as Sonar caste with population of as little as 14 in total. People of several other castes who live in Gaidahawa are Muslim, Lodh, Kahar, Tharu, Dusadh/Pasawan/Pasi, Kewat, Chamar/Harijan/Ram, Magar, Dhobi, Kurmi, Brahmin - Hill, Teli, Kami, Mallaha, Chhetri, Terai Others, Baraee, Kalwar, Kumal, Haluwai, Hajam/Thakur, Lohar, Musahar, Kathbaniyan, Damai/Dholi, Brahmin - Tarai, Newar, Badhaee, Rajput, Koiri/Kushwaha, Gaderi/Bhedhar, Sarki, Marwadi, Gurung, Sudhi, Mali, Sanyasi/Dashnami, Thakuri, Dhandi, Rajbhar, Dhunia, Pattharkatta/Kushwadiya, Majhi, Rai, Sherpa, Bangali, Tamang, Kayastha, Thakali, Yakkha, Sonar, etc. Only the population of castes with above 1,000 population are illustrated in the table.

Top five castes of people in Gaidahawa Rural Municipality are Yadav (5,391), Muslim (5,216), Lodh (4,320), Kahar (2,939) and Tharu (2,718) with total population of 20,584, which forms 43.28 percent out of total population of 47,565 in Gaidahawa Rural Municipality.

Out of total population of 47,565, there were total 459 (0.96%) disabled persons in Gaidahawa Rural Municipality with 283 (61.66%) males and 176 (38.34%) females. The physically disabled persons were 179, while mentally disabled people were 42 and intellectually disabled were 7.

Household Foundation

Out of total 7285 households in Gaidahawa Rural Municipality, there were 2,641 houses that were founded on mud bonded while 1,932 houses were cement bonded. Same as, 160 households were reported of being founded on RCC piller, 1,721houses were founded on wood.

There were several types of house roofs reported. Total 1,300 houses were reported of having thatch roofs while 390 houses had galvanized roofs. Similarly, 2,135 houses had roof of tile, 3,332 houses had RCC roofs, 12 houses had roof of woods while 0 houses were reported having roof of mud. As per 2011 CBS census, some of the houses had other types of roofs while some didn't report about the roof structure.

With respect to the toilets, 6,391 out of 7,285 houses didn't report of having a private toilet for their households. Nevertheless, 541 houses were reported of having flush toilet while 287 houses reported having ordinary toilets.

Utilities

In Gaidahawa Rural Municipality, there were total 563 houses, which were equiped with piped tap water resources while 6,595 houses were reported of having tubewell water facilities. Same as, 8 houses had covered well while 13 houses didn't have any cover on their tubewell. With reference to source of fuel, 3,294 households reported their source of fuel as firewood while 94 households had kerosene as their fuel source. The LP gas was used by 158 households as a source of fuel. Moreover, other sources of fuel were cow dung (3,558), bio-gas (106), fuel electricity (0), etc.

Same as, total 4,074 households had reported of having electricity as the source of their household's lighting. The households still using kerosene as source of light were 3,085, while 45 households used solar energy as source of lights. Total 0 households also reported of using bio-gas as a source of light. The ratio of use of electricity as compared to other source of light was 0.56.

Facilities

out of 7,285 households in Gaidahawa Rural Municipality, 395 houses reported of having no any facility in their household while 6,776 households reported of using at least one facility.
