Bhumikasthan is a Municipality, which is located in Arghakhanchi district, Province No. 5 of Nepal. Bhumikasthan has total 10 wards, which are scattered across 159 square kilometers of geographical area. According to 2011 Census conducted by Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Bhumikasthan Municipality had total population of 32,640.

Wardwise Population and Households

As per 2011 population census, Bhumikasthan Municipality had total 32,640 population with 13,935 males and 18,705 females. Out of total wards, ward number 9 had the largest population 4,199, while ward number 5 had least number of population with 4,199.

Gender wise, top 5 most age groups male population were between 10 and 14 (2,361), between 5 and 9 (2,061), below 4 (1,856), between 15 and 19 (1,478), and between 20 and 24 (666), with total population of 8,422. In contrast, bottom 5 least age group male population were between 70 and 74 (371), between 65 and 69 (411), above 75 (438),between 30 and 34 (464), and between 35 and 39 (476), with total population of 2,160. With regards to female population, top 5 age groups females were between 10 and 14 (2,375), between 15 and 19 (2,217), between 5 and 9 (2,024), between 20 and 24 (1,745), and below 4 (1,688), with total population of 10,049. In contrast, bottom 5 least age group male population were between 70 and 74 (280), above 75 (377), between 65 and 69 (444),between 60 and 64 (604), and between 55 and 59 (663), with total population of 2,368.

The population with age-group 70 to 74 had male to female ratio of 1.33, which states that this age group had maximum males as compared to females. Similarly, age-group 25 to 29 had most female population as compared to male population with male to female ratio of 0.38. The age-groups 70 to 74, above 75, below 4, 5 to 9 had majority of male population while age-groups 10 to 14, 65 to 69, 60 to 64, 55 to 59, 50 to 54, 15 to 19, 45 to 49, 40 to 44, 35 to 39, 30 to 34, 20 to 24, 25 to 29 had majority of female population as per male-female ratios. Moreover, age-groups had eqivalent or almost equal numbers of male and female population with male-female ratios of 1.

There were 55.01 % (17,954 ) of independent population, the working age people between ages of 15 and 64 years. The dependent children, ages below 15 years, were 37.88 % with total number of 12,365. The dependent elderly population, aged 65 and above were 7.11 % with total number of 2,321. As such, total dependent population including children and elderly people were 44.99 with total number of 14,686

There were 9,478 women of child-bearing age-group of 15 to 49 years. Same as, the todlers or children of 4 years or below were 3,544. The ratio of woman of child-bearing age and the number of todlers state that, approximately 374 children were born per 1,000 women. This number is also roughly used as fertility levels when direct measures of births are not available.

Grade 1-12 Students & Schools

According to Nepal Government records as of 2017, there were total 9,261 in Bhumikasthan Municipality with 4,539 (49.01%) of males and 4,722 (50.99%) females. There were total 69 schools. In average, 134 students were studying in each school.

According to 2011 census conducted by Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Bhumikasthan Municipality was inhabitted by mostly the people of Brahmin - Hill caste with total population of 10,289. There were as little as Kathbaniyan caste with population of as little as 19 in total. People of several other castes who live in Bhumikasthan are Magar, Chhetri, Kami, Sarki, Newar, Damai/Dholi, Thakuri, Sanyasi/Dashnami, Gharti/Bhujel, Kumal, Gurung, Badi, Terai Others, Kathbaniyan, etc. Only the population of castes with above 1,000 population are illustrated in the table.

Top five castes of people in Bhumikasthan Municipality are Brahmin - Hill (10,289), Magar (7,525), Chhetri (5,028), Kami (3,519) and Sarki (3,372) with total population of 29,733, which forms 91.09 percent out of total population of 32,640 in Bhumikasthan Municipality.

Similarly, there were 114 people who were blind and 132 people were deaf, while 11 people were both blind and deaf. Moreover, 78 persons had reported of having speech problems. Total 54 people had multiple disabilities.

Household Foundation

Out of total 7727 households in Bhumikasthan Municipality, there were 7,515 houses that were founded on mud bonded while 10 houses were cement bonded. Same as, 9 households were reported of being founded on RCC piller, 173houses were founded on wood.

There were several types of house roofs reported. Total 2,129 houses were reported of having thatch roofs while 2,847 houses had galvanized roofs. Similarly, 2,700 houses had roof of tile, 24 houses had RCC roofs, 5 houses had roof of woods while 0 houses were reported having roof of mud. As per 2011 CBS census, some of the houses had other types of roofs while some didn't report about the roof structure.

With respect to the toilets, 2,517 out of 7,727 houses didn't report of having a private toilet for their households. Nevertheless, 2,754 houses were reported of having flush toilet while 2,438 houses reported having ordinary toilets.

Utilities

In Bhumikasthan Municipality, there were total 6,608 houses, which were equiped with piped tap water resources while 4 houses were reported of having tubewell water facilities. Same as, 21 houses had covered well while 232 houses didn't have any cover on their tubewell. With reference to source of fuel, 7,613 households reported their source of fuel as firewood while 22 households had kerosene as their fuel source. The LP gas was used by 60 households as a source of fuel. Moreover, other sources of fuel were cow dung (4), bio-gas (10), fuel electricity (0), etc.

Same as, total 3,686 households had reported of having electricity as the source of their household's lighting. The households still using kerosene as source of light were 2,807, while 981 households used solar energy as source of lights. Total 0 households also reported of using bio-gas as a source of light. The ratio of use of electricity as compared to other source of light was 0.48.

Facilities

out of 7,727 households in Bhumikasthan Municipality, 863 houses reported of having no any facility in their household while 6,763 households reported of using at least one facility. According to 2018 Economic Census, there are total 827 establishments in Bhumikasthan Municipality that are involved in various economic activities. In those establishments, total 1,681 persons are engaged for the economic activities, as a self-employed or an employee, with total male engagement of 969 and female engagement of 712 persons.In every business, there were an average of 2.03 people engaged with average males are 1.17 and females are 0.86.
