Gaushala is a Municipality, which is located in Mahottari district, Province No. 2 of Nepal. Gaushala has total 12 wards, which are scattered across 145 square kilometers of geographical area. According to 2011 Census conducted by Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Gaushala Municipality had total population of 66,673.

Wardwise Population and Households

As per 2011 population census, Gaushala Municipality had total 66,677 population with 33,751 males and 32,926 females. Out of total wards, ward number 2 had the largest population 7,814, while ward number 6 had least number of population with 7,814.

With respect to number of households, Gaushala Municipality had total 11,893 households. The ward number 4 had most households with total 1,376, while ward number 6 had least number of households with total 523 number of households.Wardwise Population Chart of Gaushala Municipality

As illustrated in the chart, the ratio of male to female population was 1.03, which indicates that Gaushala Municipality had -3 percent lower males as compared to the females. Population by Age Group

In terms of age, the largest population in Gaushala Municipality were between 5 and 9 years of age with total 9,382. Gender wise, there were 4,760 males and 4,622 females of the same age group. The least populated age group was above 75 with total 741 population, which consistes of 361 males and 380 females. Top 5 most populated age groups were between 5 and 9 (9,382), between 10 and 14 (9,302), below 4 (7,319), between 15 and 19 (6,612), between 20 and 24 (4,968) with total population of 37,583. In contrast, bottom 5 least populated age groups were above 75 (741), between 70 and 74 (856), between 65 and 69 (1,330), between 60 and 64 (1,754), and between 55 and 59 (2,020) with total population of 6,701. Gender wise, top 5 most age groups male population were between 5 and 9 (4,760), between 10 and 14 (4,716), below 4 (3,797), between 15 and 19 (3,503), and between 20 and 24 (2,405), with total population of 19,181. In contrast, bottom 5 least age group male population were above 75 (361), between 70 and 74 (452), between 65 and 69 (659),between 60 and 64 (916), and between 55 and 59 (1,105), with total population of 3,493. With regards to female population, top 5 age groups females were between 5 and 9 (4,622), between 10 and 14 (4,586), below 4 (3,522), between 15 and 19 (3,109), and between 25 and 29 (2,618), with total population of 18,457. In contrast, bottom 5 least age group male population were above 75 (380), between 70 and 74 (404), between 65 and 69 (671),between 60 and 64 (838), and between 55 and 59 (915), with total population of 3,208.

The population with age-group 55 to 59 had male to female ratio of 1.21, which states that this age group had maximum males as compared to females. Similarly, age-group 30 to 34 had most female population as compared to male population with male to female ratio of 0.82. The age-groups 55 to 59, 15 to 19, 45 to 49, 70 to 74, 60 to 64, below 4, 40 to 44, 50 to 54, 35 to 39, 5 to 9, 10 to 14 had majority of male population while age-groups 65 to 69, above 75, 20 to 24, 25 to 29, 30 to 34 had majority of female population as per male-female ratios. Moreover, age-groups had eqivalent or almost equal numbers of male and female population with male-female ratios of 1.

There were 56.62 % (37,747 ) of independent population, the working age people between ages of 15 and 64 years. The dependent children, ages below 15 years, were 39.00 % with total number of 26,003. The dependent elderly population, aged 65 and above were 4.39 % with total number of 2,927. As such, total dependent population including children and elderly people were 43.39 with total number of 28,930

There were 15,840 women of child-bearing age-group of 15 to 49 years. Same as, the todlers or children of 4 years or below were 7,319. The ratio of woman of child-bearing age and the number of todlers state that, approximately 462 children were born per 1,000 women. This number is also roughly used as fertility levels when direct measures of births are not available.

Grade 1-12 Students & Schools

According to Nepal Government records as of 2017, there were total 17,311 in Gaushala Municipality with 8,371 (48.36%) of males and 8,940 (51.64%) females. There were total 50 schools. In average, 346 students were studying in each school.

According to 2011 census conducted by Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Gaushala Municipality was inhabitted by mostly the people of Koiri/Kushwaha caste with total population of 14,212. There were as little as Sarki caste with population of as little as 11 in total. Top five castes of people in Gaushala Municipality are Koiri/Kushwaha (14,212), Yadav (5,716), Magar (5,248), Muslim (3,990) and Teli (3,717) with total population of 32,883, which forms 49.32 percent out of total population of 66,673 in Gaushala Municipality.

Population by Disability

Out of total population of 66,677, there were total 1,092 (1.64%) disabled persons in Gaushala Municipality with 634 (58.06%) males and 458 (41.94%) females. The physically disabled persons were 290, while mentally disabled people were 78 and intellectually disabled were 34.

Similarly, there were 217 people who were blind and 164 people were deaf, while 27 people were both blind and deaf. Moreover, 181 persons had reported of having speech problems. Total 101 people had multiple disabilities.

Household Foundation

Out of total 11893 households in Gaushala Municipality, there were 293 houses that were founded on mud bonded while 2,036 houses were cement bonded. Same as, 247 households were reported of being founded on RCC piller, 9,096houses were founded on wood.

There were several types of house roofs reported. Total 1,146 houses were reported of having thatch roofs while 112 houses had galvanized roofs. Similarly, 9,818 houses had roof of tile, 639 houses had RCC roofs, 69 houses had roof of woods while 0 houses were reported having roof of mud. As per 2011 CBS census, some of the houses had other types of roofs while some didn't report about the roof structure.

With respect to the toilets, 9,595 out of 11,893 houses didn't report of having a private toilet for their households. Nevertheless, 1,451 houses were reported of having flush toilet while 785 houses reported having ordinary toilets.

Utilities

In Gaushala Municipality, there were total 2,352 houses, which were equiped with piped tap water resources while 6,972 houses were reported of having tubewell water facilities. Same as, 36 houses had covered well while 2,411 houses didn't have any cover on their tubewell. With reference to source of fuel, 10,062 households reported their source of fuel as firewood while 115 households had kerosene as their fuel source. The LP gas was used by 181 households as a source of fuel. Moreover, other sources of fuel were cow dung (1,275), bio-gas (52), fuel electricity (6), etc.

Same as, total 6,678 households had reported of having electricity as the source of their household's lighting. The households still using kerosene as source of light were 5,088, while 51 households used solar energy as source of lights. Total 0 households also reported of using bio-gas as a source of light. The ratio of use of electricity as compared to other source of light was 0.56.

Facilities

out of 11,893 households in Gaushala Municipality, 2,398 houses reported of having no any facility in their household while 9,236 households reported of using at least one facility. According to 2018 Economic Census, there are total 1,275 establishments in Gaushala Municipality that are involved in various economic activities. In those establishments, total 3,790 persons are engaged for the economic activities, as a self-employed or an employee, with total male engagement of 2,975 and female engagement of 815 persons.In every business, there were an average of 2.97 people engaged with average males are 2.33 and females are 0.64.
