In 2017 election of Bhageshwor Rural Municipality (Dadeldhura district), candidate Kaushila Kumari Bhatt of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 2,007 (41.73%) votes out of total votes of 4,809 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Bishnu Bahadur Thakurathi of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) who secured 1,844 (27.05%) of votes. The rest of 3 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 958 (9.96) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Padma Bahadur Bohara of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 2,048 (44.31%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Kamala Devi Mali of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 1,687 (25.29%) of votes and came in second position. Other 3 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 887 (9.60) of votes.

As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 102 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 63 (61.76%) males and 39 (38.24%) females. Moreover, there were total 22 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 5 wards. Same as, total 36 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 17 females and 17 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
