In 2017 election of Banphikot Rural Municipality (Rukum_W district), candidate Dharma Bahadur K.c of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) secured 3,564 (53.47%) votes out of total votes of 6,666 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Janak Kumar Bantha Magar of Nepali Congress Party (NC) who secured 2,813 (27.50%) of votes. The rest of 4 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 289 (2.17) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Mankala Pun of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) secured 3,589 (54.80%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Byunjhana Pun (devkota) of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 2,102 (20.73%) of votes and came in second position. Other 3 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 858 (6.55) of votes.

As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 159 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 97 (61.01%) males and 62 (38.99%) females. Moreover, there were total 35 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 10 wards. Same as, total 60 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 28 females and 25 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
