Mahawai Rural Municipality (Kalikot) Election Results 2017
In 2017 election of Mahawai Rural Municipality (Kalikot district), candidate Nanda Bahadur Bam of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 1,345 (49.76%) votes out of total votes of 2,703 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Sarpa Raj Singh of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) who secured 1,276 (31.52%) of votes. The rest of 4 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 82 (1.52) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Man Raj Shahi of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 1,322 (52.56%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Padma Shahi of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) secured 1,130 (29.45%) of votes and came in second position. Other 3 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 63 (1.25) of votes.

As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 119 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 69 (57.98%) males and 50 (42.02%) females. Moreover, there were total 26 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 7 wards. Same as, total 42 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 21 females and 19 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
