In 2017 election of Baijanath Rural Municipality (Banke district), candidate Man Bahadur Ruchal Thakuri of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 9,772 (41.79%) votes out of total votes of 23,382 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Dev Bahadur Khatri of Nepali Congress Party (NC) who secured 6,576 (19.83%) of votes. The rest of 7 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 7,034 (15.04) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Sharada Kumari Bishwokarma of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 9,738 (41.86%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Bhawana Chaudhary of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 7,366 (22.32%) of votes and came in second position. Other 6 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 6,159 (13.24) of votes.

As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 202 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 123 (60.89%) males and 79 (39.11%) females. Moreover, there were total 46 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 8 wards. Same as, total 72 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 37 females and 30 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
