Kohalpur Municipality (Banke) Election Results 2017
In 2017 election of Kohalpur Municipality (Banke district), candidate Lut Bahadur Rawat of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 9,007 (32.70%) votes out of total votes of 27,541 and was elected as a Mayor. The first runner-up candidate was Bhanubhakta Bhattarai of Nepali Congress Party (NC) who secured 8,924 (24.42%) of votes. The rest of 7 candidates for the position of Mayor secured combined 9,610 (17.45) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Deputy Mayor, candidate Sanju Kumari Tharu of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 10,056 (36.59%) and was elected as a Deputy Mayor, while Krishna Kumari Tharu of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 9,379 (24.98%) of votes and came in second position. Other 6 candidates who contested for Deputy Mayor secured combined 8,051 (14.65) of votes.
As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 381 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 219 (57.48%) males and 162 (42.52%) females. Moreover, there were total 88 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 15 wards. Same as, total 142 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 73 females and 61 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
