Bharatpur Metropolitan City (Chitwan) Election Results 2017
In 2017 election of Bharatpur Metropolitan City (Chitwan district), candidate Renu Dahal of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) secured 43,127 (45.52%) votes out of total votes of 94,742 and was elected as a Mayor. The first runner-up candidate was Devi Prasad Gyawali of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) who secured 42,924 (31.13%) of votes. The rest of 12 candidates for the position of Mayor secured combined 8,691 (4.59) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Deputy Mayor, candidate Parbati Shah Thakuri of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 47,197 (49.58%) and was elected as a Deputy Mayor, while Dibya Sharma of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 39,525 (27.76%) of votes and came in second position. Other 9 candidates who contested for Deputy Mayor secured combined 8,478 (4.45) of votes.

As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 684 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 402 (58.77%) males and 282 (41.23%) females. Moreover, there were total 159 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 29 wards. Same as, total 255 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 129 females and 116 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
