Chandragiri Municipality (Kathmandu) Election Results 2017
In 2017 election of Chandragiri Municipality (Kathmandu district), candidate Ghan Shyam Giri of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 13,309 (45.12%) votes out of total votes of 29,499 and was elected as a Mayor. The first runner-up candidate was Prahlad Bahadur Karki of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) who secured 10,421 (24.34%) of votes. The rest of 16 candidates for the position of Mayor secured combined 5,769 (9.78) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Deputy Mayor, candidate Lisa Nakarmi of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 11,834 (40.53%) and was elected as a Deputy Mayor, while Indrawati Shrestha of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 11,232 (27.37%) of votes and came in second position. Other 8 candidates who contested for Deputy Mayor secured combined 6,132 (10.50) of votes.

As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 387 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 235 (60.72%) males and 152 (39.28%) females. Moreover, there were total 91 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 15 wards. Same as, total 144 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 66 females and 58 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
