Meghang Rural Municipality (Nuwakot) Election Results 2017
In 2017 election of Meghang Rural Municipality (Nuwakot district), candidate Asha Tamang of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 2,528 (38.75%) votes out of total votes of 6,524 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Megh Nath Tamang of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) who secured 2,187 (24.16%) of votes. The rest of 4 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 1,809 (13.86) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Shanti Lama (gurung) of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 2,682 (41.22%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Bindu Maya Tamang of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 2,123 (23.11%) of votes and came in second position. Other 3 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 1,701 (13.07) of votes.

As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 139 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 82 (58.99%) males and 57 (41.01%) females. Moreover, there were total 28 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 6 wards. Same as, total 52 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 26 females and 22 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
