Shailung Rural Municipality (Dolakha) Election Results 2017
In 2017 election of Shailung Rural Municipality (Dolakha district), candidate Bharat Prasad Dulal of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 4,156 (46.09%) votes out of total votes of 9,018 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Singh Bahadur Tamang of Nepali Congress Party (NC) who secured 2,557 (19.41%) of votes. The rest of 5 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 2,305 (12.78) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Lal Maya Yonjan (ghising) of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 4,149 (47.97%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Urmila Karki of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 2,619 (20.46%) of votes and came in second position. Other 2 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 1,881 (10.87) of votes.

As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 142 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 91 (64.08%) males and 51 (35.92%) females. Moreover, there were total 34 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 8 wards. Same as, total 50 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 24 females and 23 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
