In 2017 election of Nawarajpur Rural Municipality (Siraha district), candidate Bishwomohan Prasad Yadav of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 2,383 (34.53%) votes out of total votes of 6,902 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Shiv Udgar Yadav of Snghiy Samajbadi Form Nepal (SanSFN) who secured 2,114 (22.77%) of votes. The rest of 8 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 2,405 (17.42) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Shobha Kumari Yadav of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 2,377 (35.04%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Sangita Kumari Yadav of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 1,988 (21.70%) of votes and came in second position. Other 3 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 2,419 (17.83) of votes.

As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 126 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 74 (58.73%) males and 52 (41.27%) females. Moreover, there were total 23 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 5 wards. Same as, total 44 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 22 females and 22 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
